Another example of a cultural sense of style. This is no different than a zoot suit in the 40's, a mini skirt in the 60's, or a bikini in the 70's. Also why not call to question why Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger etc etc make underwear with there logos, prints and symbols visible when jeans are worn bellow the waistline?
My response to that would be first of all jeans ought not be worn below the waist line; that's what belts are for. CK, TF, etc. had the marketing sense to capitilize on our silliness. It is no more right for them then it is for the saggers. In fact your argument makes it all the more reason why the saggers ought not be sagging. The zoot suit, mini skirt, and bikini were all worn properly and as they were designed. Wearing a pair of pants that is falling off of you making it a struggle to walk or run is not a cultural sense of style and if it is, what does that say about the culture?
